Nick Montreuil-Spencer‘s hard work, dedication to studying and a positive attitude all led to his being selected to represent Musitechnic for the 2016 Fred Sherratt Award.

In 2008, the MusiCounts Fred Sherratt Award was established in partnership with Bell Media. Named after broadcasting pioneer, Fred Sherratt, this annual scholarship is awarded to 12 post-secondary graduates of Canadian music programs.

It recognizes the outstanding achievement, talent, and leadership of graduating music program students and aims to assist the recipients in their transition from school to career. Each student awarded received $2,500 and a trip to Toronto to attend an educational day of networking and touring top Canadian music industry institutions.

“I am incredibly honoured to receive this year’s Musicounts Fred Sherratt Award alongside 10 amazing students in music / recording programs across Canada. It was so inspiring to meet and learn from top industry professionals, such as Mr. Allan Reid (CARAS, JUNO Awards, Musicounts) and Mr. Fred Sherratt himself (CHUM radio, Canadian Association of Broadcasters).” – Nick Montreuil-Spencer

Canada’s music education charity associated with The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS), hosted an intimate tour in Toronto yesterday to fête the 2016 Fred Sherratt Award recipients who exhibit extraordinary talent, leadership, prowess and potential in the music industry.
