So … You Are a Sound Engineer ?
If you are using the term engineer in Quebec to describe your professional occupation then I guess you are a registered member of the l’Ordre des Ingenieurs du Québec (Order of the Engineers of Quebec)… right ?
Well …. if you are not a member then in Quebec you legally need to use another term to define what you do for a living.
We know that everywhere else in the world the term « sound engineer », « recording engineer », « mixing engineer », « live sound engineer », or in French « ingénieur du son » or « ingé son », is used to identify someone who works with sound but here in Quebec this definition is legally reserved exclusively for members of the l’Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec.
